Mercu Buana University (UMB) Yogyakarta is one of the leading private universities in Indonesia located on Jalan Raya Wates, Bantul, Yogyakarta. During its 30 years of existence, UMB Yogyakarta has changed its name several times. This university was originally established under the name IPW (Wangsa Manggala Agricultural Institute) in 1984, which then changed its name to Wangsa Manggala University (UNWAMA) in 1986 and finally changed its name to Mercu Buana University Yogyakarta in 2008 until now.

The Faculty of Economics is one of the oldest faculties at UMB Yogya which was established in 1986.
