In Slovenia in the summer, in the heat atmosphere, we detect up to six times more gunshots than usual. Lightning often damages or destroys electronic devices. Among the common victims are modems, televisions, game consoles and computers, as they are extremely sensitive to lightning. The easiest way to protect them is to unplug them from the sockets before a prict storm or going on vacation, thus disconnecting them from the communication and electrical network. Subscribers of Telekom Slovenije have the Strela Alarm service free of charge, which informs them of the possibility of lightning in the vicinity of their landline with a preliminary SMS warning.
Warning of the possibility of being struck by lightning
Lightning is very common in Slovenia due to the mixture of continental, Miterranean and mountain climates. We record approximately 60,000 shootings annually, most of them in the northwestern part of the country during the summer months.
